Just a quick catch up. I am so behind on pictures that the thought of catching up is a little overwhelming. Some spur-of-the moment travel and a visit from my good friend and his brother also threw me off track.
That's actually been the real highlight. He was kind enough to invite me to the France-Namibia rugby game in Toulouse, and I got the full-immersion experience. (For those unaware that France is currently hosting the Rugby World Cup...well, I understand.)
Unknowingly, I had booked rooms for us at the hotel where the French team was staying. As my friend and his brothers are pretty big fans, and actually know what the players look like, this was a real treat for them. After the game -- which was exciting in its own way, and understanding the rules a bit certainly helps -- we eventually made it back to the hotel, where much of the team was still hanging out in the bar. Seeing the players live, while we watched news coverage of the game on the tv behind the bar, was the type of experience you can only fall into by luck!
School is great, with excellent teachers and great group of students, each with their own interesting reason for being there. As the only one to have signed up for almost three months, though, I expect to become something like the school mascot soon. As my friend said, it could be a bit Groundhog Day-ish.
More soon!
