I have slipped, no question. It's nice that a few people noticed. In the past, I have been able to motivate myself to update by making public promises, so here's a list of things I will cover in the new year:
- As of Dec 28, I will be in a new apartment in Friedrichshain, Berlin. Top floor of a converted wool factory, loft-style, with a private roof gardenview and view of Alexanderplatz. Moving there from my 1907 parquet-floored, Garboesque wedding cake in Charlottenburg (the Pasadena of Berlin) is about as much of a 180-degree turn as I could handle. I will miss this place a lot, but my delightful view of the Lietzensee will be replaced with an equally delightful view of the TV Tower at Alexanderplatz, and I will be a block from the very Stalin-esque Karl-Marx-Allee. My goal is to triangulate Berlin in hopes of finally understanding it. Added bonuses will be floors that don't squeak, lights that remember what "mood" I like, and private garage parking.
(Neither picture is mine. I will replace them with my own soon.)
- This Saturday I head south for Christmas in Rome. I will be so busy doing absolutely nothing that I doubt I will find time to blog.
- I was home for a week at the beginning of December for business, and managed to squeeze in (literally) five Mexican meals and a great, but short, stay with my mom. Her cream bodied, black roofed Mini Cooper is quite the hip car for Morro Bay! And, she found Curb Your Enthusiam funny. I think. She certainly tolerated it.
Until then, enjoy the holidays, and best wishes for peace in the new year!
(Special wishes to several friends who in 2006 became newlyweds, new parents, new friends, and newly located. You know who you are.)
